2012 CFCNCA Finale

The CFCNCA Finale is an opportunity to recognize and thank Campaign Managers, Loaned Executives, the Local Federal Coordinating Committee, the Office of Personnel Management and all other campaign workers for helping to raise millions of dollars for more than 4,500 local, national and international charities.

DOD Campaign Celebration at the Pentagon

Deputy Defense Secretary Ashton B. Carter

Nearly 30,000 Defense Department employees contributed more than $15 million dollars to the Combined Federal Campaign this year, surpassing all other government agencies in donations. At the Pentagon ceremony, Deputy Defense Secretary Ashton B. Carter presented a giant cardboard check for $15.2 million dollars to Dr. H. Brandon Haller, LFCC Chairperson. This marks the ninth consecutive year that the department has set a CFC fundraising record.

USPS Thanks Its Keyworkers

On January 16, 2013, USPS's Northern Virginia (NOVA) District, hosted an appreciation luncheon at the Harvest Moon Restaurant in Falls Church, VA. The luncheon celebrated the campaign workers who contributed to NOVA's success in this year's CFCNCA.  NOVA raised nearly $314,000 in the 2012 campaign, which was more than 97% of its dollar goal. This year's donor base also boasts 170 Eagle and Double Eagle donors.  Because of its outstanding efforts, NOVA's campaign was decorated with 10 President Awards, 3 Chairman Awards, 5 Honor Awards, and 15 Merit Award.

First-Ever Combined Federal Campaign of the National Capital Area Multi-Agency Charity Fair

On December 13, 2012, Federal workers participated in the first-ever Combined Federal Campaign of the National Capital Area (CFCNCA) multi-agency charity fair.

During the charity fair, representatives from approximately 35 charities spoke to Federal workers about their giving options and what their generous donations do to help people and communities in need.

EPA Hosts "One Team, One Locker Room" in Support of CFCNCA

On Tuesday, December 11, 2012, the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency hosted the "One Team, One Locker Room" event in support of the 2012 Combined Federal Campaign of the National Capital Area (CFCNCA).  This event hosted six former National Football League players who committed their time and support to promote the more than 4,500 charities represented in the CFCNCA. The former NFL players included Lonnie Sanders, John Stufflebeim, Frank Grant, Lennie Friedman, Jeris White and Mark Washington.

OCFO Chili Cook-Off

OFCO staff members prepare to serve their creations

The Office of the Chief Financial Officer held a very successful Chili Cook-Off, with about 70 Department of Education staff members stopping by to vote for the best chili and to support CFCNCA.  Six OCFO staff members created original chili concoctions, and the entire supply was exhausted by the end of the event.  Nena Getachew, Contract Specialist within Contracts & Acquisitions Management, won with her “Seven Layer Chili” and will represent OCFO at the Golden Ladle Finals next week.

Government Printing Office Walks for Hope

The Government Printing Office (GPO) held a “Walk for Hope” special fundraising event at the GPO Walking Trail to raise money for the CFCNCA. Participants made donations and then walked laps around the indoor trail. GPO’s Medical Section assisted in the event and provided water bottles and pedometers to participants. 

CFCNCA Best Practices Forum

WHAT: Federal workers in the National Capital area shared ideas and tested fundraising practices from within their respective agencies in connection with the Combined Federal Campaign of the National Capital Area (CFCNCA). The event, which took place on November 8, 2012, provided both campaign managers and campaign coordinators with specific, concrete steps they can take to ensure a successful fundraising campaign. This year, the forum also hosted an on-site charity fair with more than 15 charities represented.

DOL - OSHA Election Day Bake Sale

The Occupational Safety & Health Administration’s Office of Communication held a bake sale CFC fundraiser on Election Day.  A variety of delicious and homemade  cakes, cookies, pies, taffy and other all-American incredible edibles were sold.  The baked goods were decorated with patriotic themes and sold by OSHA staff to celebrate Election Day and to support the CFC.
