EPA OSWER "School Daze" Event

The Office of Solid Waste and Emergency Response (OSWER), a division of the Environmental Protection Agency, held a CFC School Daze event on December 8. There were high schools, colleges, sororities and fraternities represented from the East Coast to the West Coast. Activities included line dancing, Greek step, college trivia and more. The event was attended by Barry Breen, Principal Deputy Assistant Administrator, Office of Solid Waste and Emergency Response, Nigel Simon, CFC Co-Chair, Muriel Laws, CFC Campaign Manager, and many, many more.

DOJ ENRD Penny War

DOJ Enforcement Section Penny War

The keyworkers of the Enforcement Section of the Department of Justice declared a Penny War among management and the six litigating groups. The winning team was determined by who had the highest total in their jar at the end of the 15-day period. Pennies were counted toward that total, but silver coins and dollar bills counted against team totals, so groups could sabotage each other by placing those items in their opponents' jars. The event was a huge success, raising over $550!

DOJ OIG Serve-A-Thon

The Department of Justice Office of the Inspector General (OIG) added a service element to the 2015 Combined Federal Campaign by launching a “Serve-A-Thon” in connection with two local charities. The Serve-A-Thon offered OIG employees opportunities to give their time to help others in need, while promoting awareness of the importance of CFC.  From October 17 to December 15, seventy-two OIG employees, including their friends and family members, volunteered a total of 309 hours.

New PCFO Announced for 2016 Campaign

The 2016 Combined Federal Campaign of the National Capital area will be managed by Global Impact. The organization was selected to take over as the Principal Combined Fund Organization (PCFO) on April 1, 2016. 

EarthShare is grateful for its time as CFCNCA PCFO and wishes Global Impact all the best as they continue to make it possible.

 

2015 Combined Federal Campaign Extended

The U.S. Office of Personnel Management announced that the solicitation period has been extended for this year's Combined Federal Campaign. The new closing date is Thursday, December 31, 2015. To read the memo from OPM about the extension, click here

DOJ Environmental Defense Section Office Olympics

DOJ Office Olympics

The U.S. Department of Justice's Environmental Defense Section (EDS) held their very own CFC Office Olympics. Staff were divided up into teams representing different CFC-participating charities. Activities included an official Opening Ceremony and "Easy-Peasy Kickboxing." Thanks to the amazing work done by the EDS Keyworkers, the event raised $180 for charity!

USDA 2015 Talent Show

USDA Talent Show Performance: Tamika Terrell Starr

Earlier this month, the U.S. Department of Agriculture held a Talent Show to benefit the CFCNCA. From start to finish, this event was entertaining and well-executed. USDA performers dazzled the crowd with song and dance, but also inspired the audience to contribute to their favorite charities through the Combined Federal Campaign. 

Department of Energy CFC Festival

DOE CFC Festival 2015

The U.S. Department of Energy held a fantastic CFC Festival earlier this month outside their headquarters. DOE employees got to listen to live music, eat some delicious chili and baked goods, and sip on hot cider and hot chocolate. If that weren't enough, they also got to visit with CFC-participating charities. This lively event generated plenty of momentum that is sure to carry the Department's 2015 Campaign through to a successful finish!

Department of Education CFC Olympics

Last month, the U.S. Department of Education held their very own CFC Olympics. The morning began with the National Anthem by Joy Henry and the Presentation of Colors by the Air Force Jr. ROTC, Unit VA-821.  Secretary Arne Duncan gave opening remarks, after which the games began. Teams competed in a variety of physical challenges, including sit-ups, push-ups, and hoola-hooping.

GAO Jeans and Jersey Day

The U.S. Government Accountability Office held their own Jeans and Jersey day in October. Employees sported their jerseys and t-shirts of their favorite teams. The event featured a luncheon and an auction, where prizes included a Jordan Zimmermann autographed baseball, a Evgeny Kuznetsov autographed hockey puck, an Otto Porter Jr. (of the Washington Wizards) autographed photograph, and local college basketball tickets. The sports auction raised $725 for CFCNCA!
