CFC Cause of the Week: Disaster Relief

From hurricanes in the Caribbean to tsunamis in the Asia-Pacific region, natural disasters are the cause of death for about 90,000 people and impact almost 160 million people worldwide, annually.

Through mid-2019, the U.S. experienced six specific weather and climate disaster events—two flooding events and four severe storm events—which resulted in losses of more than $1 billion each and devastated millions of families.

Wreckage from these disasters does not stop or go away once the TV crews depart; it leaves many in critical need of basic life necessities for many months, even years, to come.

CFC charities help families, communities, and regions rebuild in the wake of a disaster. Your contributions through the campaign can make a real impact for those in need:

  • $50 supplies ten first aid kits for hurricane survivors.
  • $70 delivers two health kits to individuals recovering from a natural disaster.
  • $100 builds emergency shelters for five families uprooted in the wake of a disaster.
