“Freedom means the supremacy of human rights everywhere. Our support goes to those who struggle to gain those rights or keep them. Our strength is our unity of purpose.” – Franklin D. Roosevelt
Human rights are just that – the inherent rights that all citizens of the world are entitled to, regardless of race, gender, religion, or ethnicity. But many people around the world – and even here in the United States – face discrimination and oppression, preventing the access to their basic human rights. These standards include a spectrum of issues ranging from civil or political to economic and social.
Since the adoption of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights in 1948, we have made great strides in protecting and honoring the rights of all humans; however, there is still more work to be done. Through CFC-supported charities, you can help ensure that all individuals are treated equally and with dignity.
Here’s how you can make an impact:
- $15 Funds an hour of legal research for a team protecting women's rights.
- $25 helps provide three young women of color with one-year stipends that allow them to have a seat and a voice in local policy decision-making affecting their lives.
- $50 covers one hour of legal fees to fight injustice.
