When Oscar was born with a cleft lip and palate, his parents worried about how they would care for him. Not only is access to basic healthcare limited where they live in El Salvador, but Oscar's parents found little information about how to fix his condition. To make matters worse, they were heart-broken when others made fun of how their baby looked.
Thanks to ongoing support from CFC donors, a charity was able to help. When he was four months old, Oscar's family traveled three hours to meet the CFC-supported charity team at a hospital in San Salvador and receive care for their son. After his surgery, his mother shared her immense gratitude that her "angelito" would be able to smile, eat, and, someday, speak like other children.
The charity’s mission is to provide comprehensive cleft care for patients born with cleft lip and palate in underserved communities throughout the world, where the consequences of those conditions are devastating if left untreated. They are dedicated to making first-class cleft care accessible to all patients regardless of geographic or socioeconomic barriers.
The organization relies on the support and generosity of volunteers and donors year-round. With your help, they can give smiles and transform lives!
